The Rock Knew About Bin Laden Raid

– Just when you thought this year’s presidential campaign had taken enough unusual turns, actor and professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is hinting that he could someday be president.

“Right now the best way that I can impact the world is through entertainment,” he told Moviefone . “One day, and that day wille, I can impact the world through politics. The great news is that I am American, therefore I can be president.”

The interview did not include any reference to when he might throw his hat into the political ring. But Johnson would not be the first actor to seek high political office.

As slashfilm noted, Ronald Reagan went from actor to California governor to U.S. president; bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger became an actor then governor of California; and Jesse Ventura transformed himself from a wrestler into governor of Minnesota.

Johnson also revealed he already has some friends in high places. He sent out one of the earliest tweets last year about the death of Osama bin Laden.

“Just got word that will shock the world – Land of the free … home of the brave DAMN PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!” he tweeted at the time.

When asked by Moviefone where he got that information, Johnson replied: “If I tell you that, I won’t have to ‘kill’ you, but I’ll have to behead you – no, I got my sources,” the wrestler-turned-actor told Moviefone.

“I got friends in high places and low places. It was a very interesting day. …The individuals who were there were proud to let me know. I knew the president was going to give his speech; I thought he was going to give it at a certain time and so I thought, I think it’s appropriate that I tweet, ‘I’m damn proud to be an American,’ and keep it in that space without giving away too much information.”
